Angels - Becoming an Angel
Investors are invited to SEI’s monthly meetings to evaluate prescreened start-up companies. Investors will hear company presentations and will have access to the companies business plans posted on SEI’s secure website.
Angel investors will be able to sign-up at the monthly meetings after each presentation to participate as potential investors or as a member of the due diligence team. Those investors who agree to serve on a due diligence team are eligible for a carried interest for their efforts; this will be negotiated at the time the terms of the investment are negotiated.
Please see Dan Steininger at the meeting, click on the SEI Membership Application in the above links or email Dan Steininger.
Service providers who share the belief with SEI members that Wisconsin can become an innovation economy once again will sponsor monthly meetings.
SEI will seek out partnerships with local corporations and universities that possess intellectual property to mine those patents and license the technology to entrepreneurs who are capable of starting companies.
The network of SEI will cooperate with other angel funds to help raise capital for start-ups. It will also seek out cooperative relationships with Venture firms for purposes of assisting with early stage and second stage funding.
A Screening Committee will evaluate all applicants’ presentations and will only invite those applicants who have met the following criteria to present their investment opportunities to the members of SEI.
1. It must be a Wisconsin based company, and its principal founders must reside in Wisconsin. 2. It must have presented the outline of a business plan that shows a high growth sustainable company. 3. It must request capital not to exceed $1.5million dollars. 4. It must comply with at least 5 of the 10 Commandments of SEI Investing.
